Stella Maris cruise chaplains provide vital spiritual and pastoral support to crews onboard.

Cruise ship crew often work long hours. Many go without the sacraments for months at a time. For many crews, the presence of a priest on board brings great comfort.

Stella Maris has a team of cruise chaplains mainly deployed at Christmas and Easter. They are on board for the benefit of passengers and crew, but their priority is the crew.

Our cruise chaplains offer spiritual and pastoral support including hearing confession, celebrating Mass, and offering prayers. They also provide a link to our network of global port chaplains who can support seafarers further if needed.

It’s like having a floating parish for two weeks, where everyone has a different story. After the crew clock off, I’d say Mass for the staff. About 300-400 people turned up. I couldn’t help but be moved by their faith
